Make your career dream a reality – Tip 1 of 10

We all deserve a career that is satisfying, rewarding, enjoyable and fulfilling. If you aren’t in a career you are enthusiastic about, it is because you haven’t found out what it is you want to do, don’t know where to look, or haven’t had the motivation to get the job that will give you pleasure.

We are capable of more than we imagine and have hopes and dreams that we wish to realise. It is our doubts and fears that stop us pursuing them.

Over the next 10 weeks we will be sharing with you 10 steps you can take to significantly improve the probability of your career success and happiness.

Tip 1 of 10: Changing Your Attitude

Whilst you cannot always choose your work or your circumstances, you can and always choose your attitude and response to any situation.

Performance Potential – what you can learn to do is virtually limitless. However, many people cut themselves off from their potential by accepting that they are not good enough.

Performance Capability – what you can do is limited to what you have learned to do. The more you learn the greater the field of opportunity that opens to you.

Actual Performance – what you will do and how you will do it is dependent on your emotional state and your attitude. How you feel about yourself, what you are doing and most importantly why you are doing it, will determine your performance.

The bottom line is that in order to have any chance of reaching your full potential, it will depend on your attitude towards yourself – and this is something that you can learn to change, shape and control.

Bonus Tip – Start using ‘possibility’ thinking rather than ‘impossibility’ thinking. Start seeing yourself as a worthwhile person capable of making a positive difference and a meaningful contribution. Realise that if one person can do it, you can learn to do it.

So, making that dream career become a reality might not be as daunting as you first thought and may not require anything more than a fresh perspective and way of looking at it. It sounds simple and it is, it’s just not always easy, especially when trying to do it alone.
