The second stage will provide you with the necessary marketing materials designed to support your career search objective, demonstrate your skills and prove your capabilities.
Building on the work completed in the Focus stage your career consultant will help you develop a comprehensive set of marketing materials. These materials will be aligned to your career search objective and market you and your capabilities in an effective and compelling manner.
Included will be responses to questions you will be asked in your campaign such as your career objective statement (What are you looking for?), your self-presentation piece (Tell me about yourself.), your elevator statement (So, what do you do?), an explanation of your current situation (What are you doing now? What happened at your previous company?).
Your set of written marketing materials will include a capability profile, a CV or a biography (whichever is most appropriate to your situation and objective) and a comprehensive set of marketing letters to address each of the four routes to market.
You will then learn more productive ways to respond to job advertisements; to identify the right head hunters and recruiters; to directly approach selected organisations; and to extend your network and to develop new networks.
Together with your consultant you will then examine the four routes to market with particular emphasis to those routes that are most relevant to your specific situation and objective.
You will acquire techniques that will ensure that your responses to press and online advertised positions are more effective. You will gain additional insight into the way in which head hunters and recruiters operate. You will learn how to make successful targeted direct approaches to organisations.
You will develop effective networking techniques that will allow you to confidently extend your current network and develop new networks. Your consultant will explain the dos and don'ts of productive networking.
Stage two typically requires four to five face-to-face sessions plus telephone and email support as necessary. However, if more sessions are needed they will be provided at no additional cost. Sessions are normally of 1½ hours duration.
